Girl Scouts Camp at Camp Prarie Schooner

This summer, four of our Girl Scouts and their brave mothers enjoyed the beautiful nature and fun activities at Camp Prairie Schooner in Kansas City. It was a weekend that the group is sure to remember forever!

After lugging all of our overnight gear to our perma-tents, and saving Mrs. Julie from a ginormous mama wolf spider, all of the girls scrambled up to the top of the tree house.  They took in all the nature that surrounded them, posed for a few pictures and then headed to the lodge for lunch.  When every one was stuffed full, we all set out to complete each one of the activities available, which included, pillow case painting, swimming, recycled bird house painting and an eye-spy hike to the Prairie Fairy's house.

Needless to say, when we were finished, we were certainly all wore out.  However, there was still more to be done.  A flag ceremony took place...and then some singing.  We sang the silliest songs!!!

Supper was cooked over the fire.  The girls helped with all of it!  First, they made us appetizers...apples with peanut butter and chocolate chips...yum!

We also had taco salad.  Have you ever had taco salad cooked over a fire?  You should try it!

By this point, the girls were really tired!

Oh! But we aren't done yet, girls!!!
We sang more silly songs, had a fairy dust scavenger hunt, and then we all gathered around the campfire for...
singing silly campfire songs!
Girl Scout Counselors are Hilarious!!!
When all of the singing was done, all of the silliness was out, and it was almost to dark to see, we went back home to our creeping and crawling, breezy and very dark perma-tent.  But, of course, we couldn't go to sleep without a bed time snack.  So, our lovely counselors brought us milk and cookies.  Then, we all snuggled down into our comfy sleeping bags and slept like babies, well, some of us did!

It really was a great time!
