On Tuesday, our Girl Scouts met, and worked on earning their Safety Award.
We started off the meeting by trying on some Fire Gear!
Then we played a Stop, Drop and Roll Game.
Our leaders tossed "fire balls" When the "fire" touched the girls, they had to Stop, Drop and Roll. They had a great time!
Like always, we had our flag ceremony.
Finally, I got to introduce the girls to a few of our community leaders.
These leaders each set up a station to teach them about various topics of safety.
Mr. Bollinger, the Doniphan West superintendent and primary school principal discussed playground safety with the girls.
Daniel Stephenson, from the Troy Fire Department, gave a demonstration on how a smoke detector works.
The girls got to make their very own tornado!
Doniphan County Sheriff Deputy Bruce Case helped the girls mark the location of Police and Fire Stations on a map of their own towns.
Doniphan County Ambulance Director Matt McKittrick taught the girls about choking emergencies.
To wrap up the safety lessons, we toured the ambulance.
